LIPOEDEMA LYMPHATIC CARE

WHOLE-BODY LYMPHATIC SUPPORT FOR WOMEN LIVING WITH LIPOEDEMA

When your body has been telling you something for years, it can be a relief to finally understand the bigger picture.

Lipoedema is a chronic condition involving adipose (fat) tissue that predominantly affects women. It commonly develops through the legs, hips and buttocks and can also affect the arms.

It can bring tenderness, pain, easy bruising, heaviness and changes in the way the tissue feels. Some women also experience swelling and increasing fluid congestion, particularly when the lymphatic system becomes more challenged.

For many women, symptoms become more noticeable around hormonal changes.

Lipoedema can also be overlooked or mistaken for ordinary weight gain, leaving women feeling frustrated and wondering why their body doesn't respond to diet and exercise in the way they expect.

At Embody, lipoedema care is about understanding the whole picture and supporting your lymphatic system and tissues rather than simply treating the areas where the lipoedema is most visible.

YOUR TREATMENT

60 MIN — $185

A complete whole-body lymphatic treatment combining Manual Lymphatic Drainage with gentle but more purposeful hands-on techniques where appropriate.

This treatment supports lymphatic flow throughout the body while allowing time to work with areas of heaviness, congestion, tenderness or tissue change.

90 MIN — $245

A more comprehensive whole-body treatment allowing additional time for lymphatic work and areas where the tissues require greater attention.

90 minutes is recommended when you have more widespread symptoms, significant heaviness or swelling, or denser or fibrotic tissue.

WHO IS LIPOEDEMA LYMPHATIC CARE FOR?

This treatment may be appropriate if you experience:

  • Fat or weight that seems resistant to diet and exercise

  • Disproportionate tissue through the legs, hips, buttocks or arms

  • Both sides of the body being affected relatively evenly

  • A noticeable difference between the upper and lower body

  • Hands and feet remaining relatively unaffected while the legs or arms become larger

  • Cuffing around the ankles or wrists

  • Easy bruising

  • Tenderness or pain through the tissues

  • A feeling of heaviness, fullness or tiredness through the limbs

  • Dense, nodular or uneven tissue

  • Swelling or increasing fullness

  • Joint discomfort

  • Reduced physical function

  • Spider veins

  • Areas of tissue or skin that feel cooler to touch

  • Brain fog or feeling mentally and physically overwhelmed

  • Legs or arms that feel heavy, uncomfortable or difficult to move freely

Not every woman with lipoedema experiences all of these features, and some can occur for other reasons. Lipoedema is diagnosed through clinical assessment rather than a single test.

WHEN YOUR BODY DOESN'T RESPOND THE WAY YOU EXPECT

Lipoedema can be overlooked or mistaken for ordinary weight gain or obesity.

For some women, this means years of trying harder — changing their diet, exercising more and being told they simply need to lose weight — without understanding why certain areas of their body aren't changing in the way they expect.

Over time, that can affect much more than the body.

When you're repeatedly given the message that your weight or shape is simply the result of food, exercise or willpower, it's easy to start believing that you're lazy, undisciplined or somehow failing.

Some women carry that belief for years.

You are not lazy.

Your body deserves to be understood, not judged.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

For some women, lipoedema sits within a bigger picture involving connective tissue, hypermobility, muscular tension, nervous-system regulation and hormonal health.

You may have spent years trying to make sense of different symptoms — aching joints, feeling faint when standing, overwhelming fatigue, painful periods, sensitive tissues or a body that simply doesn't respond the way you expect.

Looking at these experiences together can sometimes help you understand your body differently.

HYPERMOBILITY & CONNECTIVE TISSUE

When joints are very mobile or less stable, the body may have to work harder to create stability.

Muscles can remain switched on to support joints and movement, which can contribute to muscular tension, fatigue and discomfort.

Your nervous system is also constantly receiving information from your joints, muscles and connective tissues about movement, position, pressure and stability. When the body is dealing with ongoing pain, physical stress or instability, the nervous system can become more easily activated.

This can leave you feeling tense, sensitive, overwhelmed or like your body has difficulty settling.

POTS & AUTONOMIC NERVOUS SYSTEM SYMPTOMS

Some women living with lipoedema also experience symptoms associated with POTS and other forms of autonomic nervous-system dysfunction.

This can include:

  • Feeling dizzy or light-headed when standing

  • Feeling faint

  • A noticeable increase in heart rate when upright

  • Significant fatigue

  • Difficulty standing for long periods

  • Reduced exercise tolerance

  • Feeling unwell after being upright for too long

ENDOMETRIOSIS & HORMONAL HEALTH

Hormonal changes can be an important part of the lipoedema story.

Some women also live with conditions such as endometriosis, which can involve:

  • Significant period pain

  • Pelvic pain

  • Pain outside of menstruation

  • Heavy or difficult periods

  • Bowel or bladder symptoms

  • Fatigue

Sometimes, when you look at all the pieces together, your history starts to make more sense.

WHEN IT ALL STARTS TO ADD UP

Maybe you've always bruised easily.

Maybe your legs have felt heavy and painful for as long as you can remember.

Maybe you've been told you're simply carrying extra weight, even though your body doesn't respond to diet and exercise in the way you expect.

Maybe you have very flexible joints, ongoing muscular tension, dizziness when standing, overwhelming fatigue or painful periods.

Maybe you've been managing several of these things for years without anyone looking at the bigger picture.

You may have more pieces to your story than you realised.

LIPOEDEMA & THE LYMPHATIC SYSTEM

Lipoedema and lymphoedema are different conditions, but they can occur together.

As lipoedema progresses, the lymphatic system can become increasingly challenged. When lipoedema and lymphatic dysfunction occur together, this is often referred to as lipo-lymphoedema.

This is where lymphatic care can become an important part of supporting the body.

At Embody, we don't simply treat the areas where lipoedema is visible.

The lymphatic system is a connected network, so treatment works through the whole body, supporting the lymphatic pathways and lymph nodes before working more specifically with areas of congestion.

WORKING WITH THE TISSUES

Lipoedema tissue can become dense, congested or fibrotic over time.

Alongside Manual Lymphatic Drainage using the Vodder Method®, I use gentle but more purposeful hands-on techniques where appropriate.

This allows me to work deeper into areas of dense or fibrotic tissue while still keeping the treatment gentle and respectful of the lymphatic system.

The intention isn't to force the tissue or use aggressive pressure.

It's about working with what is there, encouraging movement and supporting lymphatic flow.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Your appointment begins with a conversation about how you're feeling, your history and what you'd like support with.

Treatment then works through the whole body to support the lymphatic pathways and lymph nodes.

You may experience very gentle rhythmic MLD through some areas, while denser or fibrotic tissue may receive deeper, controlled hands-on work.

The treatment is always adapted to your body and how your tissues respond on the day.

WHY VODDER METHOD®?

The Vodder Method® is a specific approach to Manual Lymphatic Drainage developed around the anatomy and pathways of the lymphatic system.

The techniques are gentle, precise and rhythmic rather than forceful.

I've completed Manual Lymphatic Drainage — Vodder Method® Level 1 & Level 2, with Level 2 training including lipoedema, lymphoedema, compromised lymphatic systems, compression therapy, lymphatic taping, movement and client management.

AT EMBODY, WE SLOW DOWN

Lipoedema can be a long and frustrating journey, particularly when you've spent years feeling like your body isn't responding in the way it should.

My approach isn't about trying to force your body to change.

It's about understanding what your body is experiencing, supporting your lymphatic system and working with your tissues in a way that feels appropriate and considered.

You don't need to have all the answers before you book.

We'll have a conversation, I'll listen to what's happening and we'll take it from there.

60 OR 90 MINUTES?

60 MINUTES — $185

Choose 60 minutes for ongoing lipoedema lymphatic care or when you'd like a complete whole-body treatment with focused attention.

90 MINUTES — $245

Choose 90 minutes when you have more widespread symptoms, significant heaviness or swelling, or denser and more fibrotic tissue requiring additional time.

WHEN IN DOUBT, I RECOMMEND 90 MINUTES.

NOT SURE WHERE TO START?

If you're unsure whether you're experiencing lipoedema, lymphoedema or another form of swelling or fluid congestion, you don't have to work it out before booking.

LIPOEDEMA & LYMPHOEDEMA CONSULTATION

45 MIN — $85

A dedicated consultation to talk through your symptoms, history and concerns, and help you understand what type of lymphatic support may be appropriate for you.

We can discuss your experience with swelling, heaviness, tissue changes, lipoedema or lymphoedema, previous treatment, compression and whether a more intensive approach such as Decongestive Physical Therapy (DPT) may be appropriate.

If compression is part of your care, we can also discuss your options and whether a separate compression measurement appointment is needed.

NEED COMPRESSION?

COMPRESSION CONSULTATION & MEASUREMENT

30 MIN — $60

A dedicated appointment for compression garment selection and professional measurement.

We'll discuss the type of compression that may be appropriate for you, take the required measurements and help you understand your options.

Compression garments are purchased separately and are not included in the consultation fee.
