Frequently Asked Questions

Which treatment should I book?

If you're unsure, don't worry—you don't need to have all the answers before booking.

Simply choose the treatment that feels most aligned with your concerns. Every appointment begins with a comprehensive consultation, and if another treatment would better support your needs, we'll discuss this together before your treatment begins.

Our priority is ensuring you receive the treatment that's right for you.

What can I expect at my first appointment?

Your first appointment begins with a thorough consultation where we'll discuss your health history, current concerns and treatment goals.

From there, your treatment is thoughtfully tailored using the techniques most appropriate for your body on the day.

No two appointments are ever the same.

Do I choose a 60-minute or 90-minute treatment?

For body treatments, the difference is how much of the body we can treat during your appointment.

60-minute treatments focus on the front of the body only. This allows enough time to thoroughly support the lymphatic system across the front of the body, where a complete treatment naturally takes around 60 minutes.

90-minute treatments include both the front and back of the body, making them our most comprehensive option. The additional time allows us to support the lymphatic system more completely while also addressing the fascia and nervous system where appropriate.

If you're looking for the most thorough body treatment, we generally recommend the 90-minute appointment.

Please note that facial treatments and pregnancy care are structured differently, so treatment times vary depending on the service.

Why is healthy flow so important?

Your body functions as one interconnected system.

Blood delivers oxygen and nutrients to your tissues. The lymphatic system helps maintain healthy fluid balance and supports immune function. Fascia allows muscles, nerves and organs to move freely, while the nervous system influences movement, breathing, recovery and relaxation.

When these systems are supported together, your body is better able to move, adapt and function as it was designed to.

That's the philosophy behind every treatment at Embody.

Flow Supports Function. Function Supports Wellbeing.

What is Manual Lymphatic Drainage?

Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is a specialised treatment performed using gentle, precise movements that support the natural movement of lymphatic fluid throughout the body.

At Embody Lymphatic Co, treatments are performed using the internationally recognised Vodder Method® of Manual Lymphatic Drainage.

Unlike traditional massage, Manual Lymphatic Drainage relies on precision rather than pressure.

Does Manual Lymphatic Drainage hurt?

No.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage is an extremely gentle treatment because the lymphatic vessels sit just beneath the skin.

Many clients are surprised by how calming, soothing and deeply relaxing it feels.

Is Manual Lymphatic Drainage the same as a massage?

No.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage is a specialised therapy based on the anatomy and physiology of the lymphatic system.

While some treatments may incorporate muscle therapy or fascial techniques where appropriate, MLD is a distinct therapeutic approach.

What can Manual Lymphatic Drainage help support?

Manual Lymphatic Drainage may help support healthy lymphatic function and is commonly sought by clients experiencing swelling, fluid retention, post-surgical recovery, pregnancy-related swelling, feelings of heaviness or those wanting to support their overall wellbeing.

During your consultation, we'll discuss your concerns and determine the most appropriate treatment for you.

Is lymphatic drainage only for people recovering from surgery?

Not at all.

While Manual Lymphatic Drainage is widely recognised for supporting post-operative recovery, many clients seek treatment for everyday concerns such as fluid retention, swelling, hormonal changes, stress, feelings of heaviness and to support their overall wellbeing.

What is fascia?

Fascia is a remarkable network of connective tissue that surrounds and supports every muscle, organ, nerve, blood vessel and lymphatic vessel in the body.

Healthy fascia allows your body to move with greater freedom while contributing to posture, stability, flexibility and overall movement.

What is Buccal Therapy?

Buccal Therapy is an advanced facial treatment performed both inside and outside the mouth using gloved hands.

By working with the deeper muscles of the face, it helps release jaw tension, improve mobility and naturally sculpt and define the face.

Is Buccal Therapy painful?

Most clients describe Buccal Therapy as unusual rather than painful.

Areas of significant tension can feel tender; however, treatment is always adapted to your comfort level, and your consent remains the priority throughout your appointment.

Can I have treatment while I'm pregnant?

Yes.

Our Pregnancy Care treatments are carefully adapted to each stage of pregnancy to ensure both your comfort and wellbeing.

If you have a high-risk pregnancy or specific medical concerns, please contact us before booking so we can discuss the most appropriate care for you.

Is every treatment customised?

Absolutely.

Every body is different, which is why every appointment begins with a detailed consultation.

Depending on your needs, your treatment may include Manual Lymphatic Drainage, fascial therapy, craniosacral therapy, scar therapy, muscle release or other techniques best suited to your body on the day.

How many treatments will I need?

Every body is different.

Some clients visit for a specific concern, while others include treatment as part of their ongoing wellbeing.

During your consultation, we'll discuss your goals and recommend an approach that best supports your individual needs. There is never any pressure to book ongoing appointments.

How will I feel after treatment?

Everyone responds differently.

Many clients describe feeling lighter, calmer, less restricted and more comfortable in their body. Others notice reduced swelling, improved movement or a greater sense of ease.

Your experience will depend on your individual presentation and the treatment you receive.

Is there anything I should do after my treatment?

We recommend drinking plenty of water, enjoying some gentle movement such as walking where possible and allowing yourself time to rest if needed.

We'll also provide personalised aftercare advice based on your treatment and individual needs.

Can I claim through my private health fund?

Eligible treatments may be claimed through participating private health funds, depending on your level of cover.

If you're unsure whether your appointment is claimable, please contact us before booking and we'll be happy to help.

What should I wear?

Wear whatever feels comfortable.

Depending on your treatment, you may be asked to undress to your underwear. Your privacy is always respected, and professional draping is used throughout your appointment.

For facial treatments, we recommend arriving with minimal makeup where possible.

Are your treatments suitable for men?

Yes.

Our treatments are suitable for both men and women and are always tailored to your individual needs, health history and treatment goals.

Do you offer gift vouchers?

Yes.

Gift vouchers are available for either a specific treatment or any dollar value and can be purchased online, making them a thoughtful gift for birthdays, baby showers, Mother's Day, Christmas or simply to let someone know you're thinking of them.
